HELEN BIGGS
Counselling for Adults & Young People
How it works
What to expect
Once you have made contact with me, I will initially ask for a brief outline of what brings you to counselling, often this is through email. This is to get a sense of what you would like to work on, for some people this can be hard so I can offer a short phone conversation to have a discussion around this if this is preferred.
The next step is to arrange an Initial Session, which is either a face to face meeting or an online session that explores the issues that you are facing now or have done in the past, your reasons for seeking counselling, your hopes and goals; we agree a number of sessions as a starting point, however this will be reviewed and can change. Probably the most important aspect of this session is that it is an opportunity for us to meet before deciding whether we would like to work together. It is so important that you feel comfortable with whoever you work with so I would encourage you to take your time to think about whether to continue.
Once we have agreed to the counselling sessions we will find a suitable day and time for you to attend on a weekly basis.
